• Obama plans to grant work permits to millions of immigrants
  • After the glorious victory of the Republicans in the November elections, there were rumours that Obama will halt his executive action plan for immigration reform. However, it does not seem so. Recently, an official from the White House said that Obama will stick to his plans of implementing immigration reform policies before the end of this year.

Republicans have threatened that they will kill any immigration bill if Obama handles this issue by himself. Immigration reform bill was passed in the Senate last year with 68-32 votes and was stalled in the House as it has Republican majority. It was never brought out for voting in the House.

During a meeting on last Friday with Obama, House speaker Mr. Boehner said that it will be a political suicide if Obama uses his executive power to act on immigration.

Obama likely to extend DACA (Deferred Actions against Childhood Arrivals) action, taken in 2012 and will grant permit to stay and work to approximately 4 million undocumented immigrants. He will also make strategy to stop deportation and make it more liberal.

We can say that 2014 was the year of immigration. After the infinitive numbers of protests, marches, rallies and fasts, finally, there is a hope for millions of undocumented immigrants who are contributing to the United States in a meaningful way.
