    What defines a Green Card Holder (Permanent Resident)?

    A Green Card holder or a permanent resident is a person who has been accorded with authorization to live and work in the United States permanently. As evidence of this status the applicant is given what is a permanent resident card, or what is also called a “Green Card.” An applicant can become a permanent resident in several ways. A family member of employer residing in the United States usually sponsors the immigration applicant. An individual can also become a permanent resident through refugee or asylee status, or even through humanitarian programs.

One important procedure that forms a part of the Immigration journey is taking on the Immigration Medical Examination or what is known as the Green Card Medical Exam– in the Green Card Medical Examination a USCIS-approved Civil Surgeon, (a doctor specially appointed for the purpose and eligible to carry out the Medical Exam) conducts physical examinations, blood work, vaccinations and X-rays, depending upon the age of the applicant.
