The long-pending issue of illegal immigrants crossing the US border has pushed President Obama to consider taking executive action on immigration. Granting of temporary work permit or providing some immigration relief to millions of undocumented immigrants is likely to come before mid-term elections in November.

 According to the report, President Obama is likely to grant temporary legal status to thousands of undocumented immigrants who are already inside the country, and permit them to work while they are in the country. There are chances of increasing deportation that is much faster than the usual routine. However, President Obama is not going for universal amnesty for all undocumented immigrants, and if there are any policy changes, there would be granting of work permits that will enhance protection from deportations.
