The debate over the cost and benefits of a broad overhaul of immigration laws by the congress parties are creating a ruffle in the US, especially in sectors like industry, agriculture, food processing and the nursery are facing the setback of congressional inaction. Experts believe that with a little change in the immigration laws, could change and help both the growth and productivity of entrepreneurs and the immigrants.

With current trend over the deportation of many undocumented immigrants who are the breadwinner of their families are persecuted by the immigration systems.

Finding the right labor, especially in agriculture, food processing and nursery industries is becoming very tough, even though the US employment nears 10 percent; companies still depend on immigrants to fill the space. The immigrant workers are very flexible, well skilled in hard labor jobs and readily relocate to other places and prefer to take up short-term, seasonal jobs as compared to US citizens who are though unemployed are not ready to take up the tough jobs, not skilled enough to tilt the field and they are not interested in low  wages. Especially in the meat-processing industries, most of the employees are immigrants. Hiring an immigrant labor has become an important factor in these industries.

Many perceive that immigrants are in the US to take away jobs from the American workers, but the reality as per many industrialists feel that they are actually supporting the year round job of hundreds of the US citizens.

Program like guest work becomes difficult to meet with most of the American entrepreneurs as it costs them heavily. Therefore, they opt for nearly 25% of workers who are immigrants.  The hour of the day calls for immigration reform, bills like AgJobs and H-2A programs need to be looked and brought into action sooner.

Undocumented immigrants need a clear route to pass all the immigration reforms and who are struggling hard to support their families are under the pressure and fear of being deported. Many of them are been affected by the policies of the US immigration system. Even with immigration reform been done at a high level like skilled labor, more needs to be done for the labor class, which is an essential part of everyone’s life as food, productivity depends on them. Without tilting land by immigrants, we will be ending up with a shortage of food and other commodities.
