President Obama has decided to postpone their decision of taking executive action to implement the immigration reform bill till mid-November elections and according to political analysts, this may result in losing the faith of Hispanic community which is increasing and can become a decision maker in upcoming congressional elections.
After much deliberation on this subject and the stubborn attitude of Republicans on the immigration bill, President Obama promised that he will use his special presidential executive power to pass immigration reform bill. However, after requests from Senate Democrats who fear of losing upcoming mid-November elections, the president gave in and delayed the actions, triggering enormous dissatisfaction and even resentment among the Latino electorate.
According to Luis Miranda, Obama’s former White House spokesman for Hispanic media, “The Democrats are mistaken in part, because they’re not explaining to Hispanics that protecting the Senate is important despite the president’s decision,” a mention to Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, an order signed up by Obama in 2012 that evades thousands of young immigrants being deported.
Steffen Schmidt, Political science professor at the University of Iowa said that due to tactical errors made by conservatives in their campaign and the internal struggles in the party will subsequently help Democrats to win a majority in this election.
