Once your USCIS-approved doctor completes the I-693 medical examination, the civil surgeon will seal the completed Form I-693 in an envelope. This sealed envelope must be submitted to USCIS as part of your green card or adjustment of status application and should never be opened by the applicant.
You will receive the sealed envelope at the end of your clinic visit, or by mail, depending on the location. If you are filing Form I-485, the sealed I-693 envelope is included in that submission package.
The I-693 medical exam is valid for two years from the date the civil surgeon signs the form. USCIS must receive your application before this period expires. If your green card application is delayed, you may need to visit an I-693 medical doctor again for a new examination.
