As expected, Obama is facing tough criticism from House Republicans for taking executive action on immigration reform. Obama challenged Republicans to pass the immigration bill if they do not like executive action taken by Obama on Thursday.
However, not to forget that the comprehensive immigration reform bill passed by the Senate in June 2013, was never brought to the House for voting or debate due to stubbornness of Republicans as they consider the bill “Awful” and very liberal to immigrants.
Responding to Boehner who said that President is behaving like an emperor in using his executive powers for almost 11 million immigrants living in the United States without documents, Obama said that my only goal is to pass a bill. Congress has some responsibilities to deal with this issues and I can’t do everything on my own.
Obama addressed the nation on Thursday and said to ease the deportation policy and also extend the DACA action that will give legal status and work permit to approximately 5 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States.
