• An Immigration activist Guilty in Immigration Case
  • Rasmieh Yousef Odeh, 67, has served 10 years in an Israel prison for several bombings in 1969 and was released in a prisoner swap with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

After her release, she joined Chicago’s Arab American Action Network as an associated director and was very popular among the Arabs for her work with immigrants, especially for Arab women.

On Monday, federal jury has found her guilty for immigration fraud for failing to disclose her conviction in a Jerusalem Supermarket bomb blasts.

U.S. District Judge Gershwin Drain ordered authorities to detain her till the next scheduled hearings on March 10 fearing her flying risk. Defence attorney said this accusation baseless and said that she was not on a flying risk.

US attorney Barbara McQuade said in a statement that an individual convicted of a terrorist bombing would not be admitted to the United States if that information was known at the time of arrival. Upon discovery that someone convicted of a terrorist attack is in the United States illegally, we will seek to use our criminal justice system to remove that individual.”

Her supporters gathered outside the downtown and marched along a sidewalk to protest her conviction.
