Former Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney said that if Republicans wins the Senate elections, they will put the immigration reform bill on President’s desk.
The Comprehensive Immigration Bill was actually scripted by Gangs of Eight Members in April 2013 and was passed in the Senate with 68-32 votes. However, due to a stubborn attitude of House Republicans, it was never brought up in the House for debate.
President Obama announced that he will use his executive power to make some significant immigration reforms. Due to repetitive requests by House Democrats, he postponed action after the November elections. According to sources, his action will include dropping the rate of deportation, work permits to the millions of undocumented immigrants and much more.
In an interview with Fox News Sunday, Romney said, “You’ll see a provision first of all to secure the border, second of all to deal with those who have come here illegally and third [to] make sure our immigration policies are open and transparent,”
“That’s going to happen,” Romney added. “You’re going to see a bill actually reach the desk of the president if we finally have someone besides Harry Reid sitting in the Senate. We’re going to get it done.”
