{"id":1552,"date":"2015-05-12T13:18:30","date_gmt":"2015-05-12T13:18:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.easyime.com\/blog\/?p=1552"},"modified":"2015-05-12T13:18:58","modified_gmt":"2015-05-12T13:18:58","slug":"permanent-residence-united-states-entails","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.easyime.com\/blog\/permanent-residence-united-states-entails\/","title":{"rendered":"PERMANENT RESIDENCE IN THE UNITED STATES: WHAT IT ENTAILS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.easyime.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/12May-e1431436623524.png\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1553\" src=\"http:\/\/www.easyime.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/12May-e1431436623524.png\" alt=\"12May\" width=\"350\" height=\"350\" \/><\/a>Once an applicant becomes a permanent resident or what is called a green card holder then this state of permanent residence has to be maintained, until the applicant:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Applies for and initiates the naturalization process, or<\/li>\n<li>Loses or does away with the status of permanent residence.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There are some ways in which an applicant loses his or her status as a legal permanent resident.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>CONDITIONS TO THE STATUS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Immigration and Nationality Act of which Section 215 gives the applicant the provision for becoming a permanent resident based on the condition of marriage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A sub-section, Section 216A of the INA allows the applicant based on investments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Both these sections can enable USCIS to terminate the applicant\u2019s conditional status if a fraud or an untoward incident treated as a crime is perpetrated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">That status could be lost if a final order against the applicant is issued by an immigration judge.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>DOING AWAY WITH PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The applicant will be doing away with the status if he or she:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Moves away to another country with the intention of living there on a permanent basis.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Stays outside the United States for a long period of time.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Does not pay income tax while staying outside the United States for a long period<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Gives the declaration of \u201cnon-immigrant\u201d status in the income tax returns.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Once an applicant becomes a permanent resident or what is called a green card holder then this state of permanent residence has to be maintained, until the applicant: Applies for and initiates the naturalization process, or Loses or does away with the status of permanent residence.
