In order to apply for a Green Card<\/strong> in the United States, another name for lawful permanent residence, an applicant has to go through what is known as the Green Medical Exam. The main reason why USCIS, or the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services conduct this examination is to ensure that the applicant is not inadmissible to the United States on grounds of public health.<\/p>\n

USCIS appoints special physicians who are experts in the field of conducting the Green Card Medical Exam. They are called USCIS Civil Surgeons<\/strong>, and these doctors or physicians are qualified to perform Green Card Medical Examinations as they receive special and continuous training on issues pertaining to immigration.<\/p>\n

If an applicant is applying for a Green Card from within the United States he or she can access the list of qualified surgeons from the website of USCIS. Or alternatively the extremely user-friendly website www.easyIME.com<\/a> provides a free listing of qualified USCIS Civil Surgeons who can be contacted in and around the applicant\u2019s area. This service is free to the Green Card applicant and comes at no cost.<\/p>\n

The applicant needs to bring along a list of the vaccinations already taken, to show to the USCIS Civil Surgeon at the Green Card Medical Exam<\/strong>.
