For those who are coming to a new country as refugees or are seeking asylum, both of which could mean that they are escaping poverty or trauma and the changes of succumbing to mental conditions is even higher, researchers say.<\/p>\n

It was found that refugees ended up in most countries with a higher chance of schizophrenia than others. Refugees are usually exempt from any kind of medical examinations \u2013 they come to new countries in great fear and trauma and they usually are accompanied with a \u201cpersecution complex\u201d. Their countries are almost always involved in violence and war, so these immigrants have a lot of psychological trauma to experience. “The risk depends both on the circumstances from which they\u2019re leaving, as well as the circumstances they\u2019re migrating to,\u201d it was said by a researcher. “Both are playing a role in the high risk of psychotic disorders we\u2019re seeing.\u201d Resettlement is not very easy and adapting to new situations in a state of mental tension is always hard.
